Physical Therapy (often abbreviated to PT) is an evidence-based health care professional which offers cost-effective treatment to improves mobility, relieve pain, reduce the need for surgery and prescription drugs, and allow patients to participate in a recovery plan designed for their specific needs.  Physical therapists are experts in improving mobility and motion. Pain-free movement is crucial to quality of daily life, the ability to earn a living, and the ability to enjoy favorite leisure activities.  While surgery and prescription drugs are sometimes necessary, there is increasing evidence demonstrating that conservative treatments like physical therapy can be equally effective (and cheaper) for many conditions. Treatment plans can be designed for the patient's individual goals, challenges, and needs. Receiving treatment by a physical therapist is rarely a passive activity, rather clients are encouraged to take charge of their own health, which is often empowering and liberating.

Occupational Therapy (often abbreviate to OT) helps people across the lifespan to participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations).  Common occupational therapy interventions include helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, helping people recovering from injury to regain skills, and providing supports for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes. Occupational therapy services typically include an individualized evaluation, during which the client/family and therapist determine the person’s goals; customized intervention to improve the person’s ability to perform daily activities and reach the goals; and an outcomes evaluation to ensure that the goals are being met. Occupational therapy services may include comprehensive evaluations of the client’s home and other environments (e.g., workplace, school), recommendations for adaptive equipment and training in its use, and guidance and education for family members and caregivers. Occupational therapy practitioners have a holistic perspective, in which the focus is on adapting the environment to fit the client, with the client serving as an integral part of the therapy team.
